Gaston Chiquet Champagne: Bubbles with a Story

NOW SERVING by the glass or bottle. It’s bubbles the way they were meant to be: rooted in place, shaped by family, and ready to make even an ordinary night feel like a party.

At Stoneburner, we don’t just pour Champagne. We like to know where it comes from and why we should be carrying it in the cellar. Gaston Chiquet isn’t a big-house name unless you are a wine nerd. Gaston Chiquet is a family estate in Dizy, Vallée de la Marne, that’s been growing vines since 1746 and making their own Champagne since 1919. Long before “grower Champagne” was even a thing.

From Family Roots to Fine Bubbles

Back in 1919, brothers Fernand and Gaston Chiquet (pictured above) made the then-radical move to bottle their own wine instead of selling fruit to the big négociants. Four generations later, Antoine and Nicolas Chiquet are still steering the ship, keeping things hands-on, honest, and all about the vineyards.

What’s in the Glass

Their Brut Tradition 1er Cru (multi-vintage) is a blend of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, a classic Champagne trio. Here’s what you’ll taste:

  • Yellow apple and fresh peach

  • Meyer lemon brightness

  • Warm brioche and almond on the finish

The texture? Fine bubbles, balanced structure, and the kind of lift that makes you go back for another sip before you even realize it.

Why We’re Into It

The Chiquets farm 23 hectares of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, all within shouting distance of Dizy, Aÿ, and Hautvillers. They keep it clean in the cellar, meaning no oak, no heavy intervention, just fruit and terroir doing their thing. In the vineyards, they lean sustainable: “grassing” to manage erosion, fewer chemicals, and a respect for the land that shows up in the glass.

This Champagne is versatile: it’s crisp enough for oysters, rich enough for pasta, and celebratory enough for, well, anything worth celebrating.

Raise a Glass

Gaston Chiquet is grower Champagne with history, heart, and serious drinkability.
